That is really cool Angie. Connecting up natural gifts and excitement with God helps the child see that following God is a natural part of life. And I am sure grandparents love the interaction! Great idea!

When I was younger, I had a few people in my Sunday School and my extended family that I looked up to as faithful, wise mentors. I continue to look up to those extended family members. I have since found new mentors, both in and out of First Covenant Church, that act as a mentor to Ben and I, and also to Katelynn. She has been positively influenced by the "family" that is our church. She sees the faithful examples of adults in our church, and explores relationships and conversations with these people. We are very blessed to have found this family and will continue to seek out mentors that can help us with parenting and mentors that can engage Katelynn in learning more about Christ and walking closer with Him and the joy that can bring.

I know that my parents and my in-laws, as well as my grandparents are all investing in Katelynn's faith building. We have invited our extended family to share in our worship service, and we have attended theirs. We also have Katelynn share with her grandparents all that she is learning in Sunday School or at home with her grandparents to start a conversation with them. When she completes a faith-related art project, we encourage her to share it with them.

Your post made me think how it is probably even more impactful for our kids when it is outside "church"...such as praying in a restaurant. Suddenly, you remember that God is present with us anywhere...and is at work. Thanks for sharing!

That is encouraging Angie! It's cool to see the kids begin to express what they know and their interest in God.

We do that, too. Whenever we hear sirens or learn of situations on the news, we pray for those involved.

We continue to talk about what we learned in church or at Sunday School if we can connect it in some way to what we are doing or coming across that week.

It is interesting that some of Katelynn's pictures that she draws have connections to God, and in reviewing her art from daycare, we are able to talk about God and heaven and how much God loves us. I love that she is already a "seeker"; seeking knowledge about God!

We have tried to incorporate certain traditions and values into our lives and make it a habit. Mealtime prayers, even at restaurants, church and Sunday School. I have a stack of Christian books near my bed, and I try to dig in the Word several times a week. It's definitely not easy to stay connected to God with life swirling around you. More than reading, praying and attending church, we try to talk about God and His truth and His promises daily or more.
